HIGH HOPS BREWERY TO RELEASE FIRST 30 PACK OF CRAFT BEER

Black Project Releases Stargate Peach-Nectarine Spontaneous SourBlack Project Spontaneous & Wild Ales will release “STARGATE: Peach Rye | Nectarine Bourbon” on January 12, 2018 to a select group of lottery winners that will be picked randomly from entries submitted online.

STARGATE: Peach Rye | Nectarine Bourbon is the latest release from the brewery’s “PROJECT: STARGATE”, which highlights different flavors and aromas of whole fruit fermented and aged in spirit barrels, which are filled with the brewery’s spontaneous solera sour golden “DREAMLAND”. Each year the brewery picks different fruits and spirit barrels, depending on the season, to age their sour golden for several months, imparting unique flavors and aromas into the base beer.

StargateIn 2016, STARGATE debuted as “DREAMLAND: Peach Rye”, a spontaneous sour golden aged in Law’s Whiskey House Rye Whiskey barrels and refermented with whole peaches from Palisade, Colorado. That same year, DRAFT Magazine named the beer among the “Top 25 beers of 2016” and PorchDrinking.com which declared STARGATE as one of the “Best Beers of 2016”. The beer was later renamed to avoid confusion.

One year later, STARGATE was re-released to a long line of customers that extended down the street. Unfortunately, several cases were over-carbonated, which lead to canceling the release and recalling all bottles. After a few weeks of testing, Black Project discovered that the issue related to residual complex sugars in the bottles. The brewery decided to fix the problem by opening all overcarbed bottles and refermented the beer on more peaches, repackaged it, and re-release it at no additional cost to everyone that waited in line, creating the now legendary: STARGATE².

Black Project StargateThat is why this year, Black Project wanted to do something special by releasing the first double barrel blend of STARGATE. This beer combines Laws Whiskey House Rye barrel aged STARGATE with Peaches and Laws Whiskey House Bourbon barrel aged STARGATE with Nectarines together, to produce “the most complex, most fruit forward, and most nuanced sour beer we have ever made.” After tasting the barrels apart and blended, James Howat (founder, brewer, and blender) found that the fruit-forward rye whiskey and bourbon whisky complemented and showcased each fruit with more depth and complexity than the individual barrels alone, combining juicy peaches with tart nectarines, which adds an incredible complexity of spice from the rye with the rich vanilla oak from the bourbon finish.

Black Project Spontaneous & Wild Ales is the passion project of James Howat, owner, brewer, and blender; and Sarah Howat, owner and operations manager; of what was formerly Former Future Brewing Company. Bonfire Brewing Introduces New Kindler Pale Ale Cans

Kindler Pale AleBonfire Brewing is excited to debut its classic Kindler Pale Ale recipe with refreshed label artwork. Kindler is the second of Bonfire’s cans to get a new look (Demshitz Brown Ale was the first), with new Firestarter IPA, Brush Creek Blonde Ale, and WtFO Double IPA cans coming in early 2018.

The new Bonfire cans, which feature an adventurer and her pup, were designed by Heather Neale and Riley Cran under the leadership of Bonfire Brewing’s Co-Owner and Art Director Amanda Jessen. “Bonfire beers have proven to be the perfect accompaniment to the adventurous lifestyle that we are so fortunate to experience here in Eagle,” Amanda says. “Whether it’s a summer hike with a four-legged friend or campfire beers after a day on the river, each of our new can designs offers a glimpse into our story, which is both quintessentially Colorado and uniquely Bonfire.”

Bonfire’s design team draws inspiration from its mountain surroundings for its beer names. Kindler was originally brewed in the spring to coincide with the Eagle Valley-wide re-kindling of a desire to get back out on the trails and into the water. Its popularity has since transformed it into a year-round flagship. Kindler is a traditional American Pale featuring Mosaic and Simcoe hops, deliberately designed to impart a more refreshing than bitter hop character. Undergoing seven hop additions to bring it close to the top of the pale ale scale at 42 IBUs, the Kindler has a distinctly fruity hop aroma and finish.

New Kindler cans are now available at Bonfire Brewing in Eagle, and at liquor stores across Colorado.

Bonfire DemshitzThe Bonfire Brewing Demshitz American Brown Ale was the first of the Bonfire cans that Amanda and her team refreshed. The new artwork depicts a post-kayak trip van camping scene, featuring a bright orange bonfire, and paying homage to the Demshitz paddling lifestyle.

“Bonfire is all about keeping things fresh for 2018 and beyond, so all cans will eventually have a new look, with each can telling a piece of our ‘Bonfire lifestyle’ story,” Amanda says.

City Star Brewing Releases Outlaw 2017

Imperial Stout Aged in Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey Barrels

The latest in the City Star Zoller Barrel Aged Series will be released in the City Star taproom on Saturday, October 21st, Outlaw. The 2017 vintage of this imperial stout was aged 14-18 months in Kentucky bourbon whiskey oak barrels and weighs in at 12.75% abv. Flavors of rich chocolate, toffee, dark dried fruit, oak, vanilla and of course American whiskey. A rich and creamy mouthfeel leaves you lingering for another pour. 

“This is a very special release for us. Though we began barrel aging beer in 2012, our 2015 vintage of Outlaw was our first bottling of any kind at City Star. It is exciting to see where City Star was at the time of our 2015 release in comparison to this release, as it coincides with the opening of our long awaited beer garden and Zoller Barrel House.” – co-owner Whitney Way.

Great Divide Brewing Collaborates with GRiZ on Chasing the Golden Hour

Great Divide Brewing is creating a new beer with chart topping musician GRiZ. Called Chasing the Golden Hour, the beer pays homage to GRiZ’s Mixtape which bears the same name. Both the music and beer are meant to capture the carefree good vibes during a sunset on a perfect summer evening.Chasing the Golden Hour

“We don’t make beer for people to drink in glass boxes, we make great beer for people to share with friends and build community,” said Shannon Berner, marketing manager at Great Divide Brewing. “This collaboration is a way to showcase our beer and GRiZ’s music together in an engaging way that resonates with our current fans while hopefully reaching some new ones.”

The collaboration was both creative and fun. GRiZ himself participated in most aspects of the process from selecting style to designing the crowler.

At 7.3 percent ABV, Chasing the Golden Hour has copious amounts of fresh, locally grown, Colorado peaches that accentuate the fruity notes from Great Divide’s four yeast Colette blend. While the fresh peach character is huge, the complexity of Colette provides a solid backbone and the beer finishes with the dryness you would expect from the original farmhouse ale. Just as complex and refreshing as the original, it’s perfect for chasing The Golden Hour.

“I wanted to help create a beer that was easy to drink and delicious. A beer you could bust out while watching a beautiful sunset and it would really fit the vibe. Great Divide understood that vision and was the perfect partner for Chasing The Golden Hour Ale,” said GRiZ.

As for the beer, on August 30th, Chasing the Golden Hour will be available at the Great Divide Tap Room and Barrel Bar. The beer will also be on tap at the Gothic Theater, Larimer Lounge, and the Ogden Theater, where GRiZ will perform a sold out live rehearsal on August 31st. GRiZ’s show at Red Rocks on September 1st and 2nd is sold out.

Grant Kwiecinski, otherwise known as GRiZ, is a saxophone playing electronic music producer who hails from Michigan and is well known for his talents in writing funk and soul-influenced dance music. Bell’s Brewery to Release Larry’s Latest Sour Ale

Another new Bell’s beer will make its way to a larger audience soon.

Bell's Brewing Larry's Latest SourLarry’s Latest Sour Ale (5% ABV) will be packaged in 16 oz. cans (packaged in 4-packs), in kegs and in 12 oz. bottles (both 6-packs and 12-packs) for release in February.

Dry-hopped and kettle soured, Larry’s Latest Sour Ale offers a refreshing citrus tartness combined with incredible tropical aromas. This experimental beer combines the tartness you get from kettle soured beers like Oarsman Ale with aromatic hops varietals like Mosaic, Citra, Galaxy, El Dorado and more.

It is a nod to the spirit of innovation and experimentation that Larry Bell, Bell’s Brewery founder and president, started in 1985.

“This beer is part of a long tradition of experimentation that those who visit our pub are more familiar with,” Laura Bell, CEO of Bell’s Brewery, said.

“The Eccentric Café’s Draught Board is used often to try out new ingredients and new beers. This is really the step in between creating something new and then giving it a formal name.”

“A lot of other Bell’s beers have followed this same path. Roundhouse, Quinannan Falls and even Two Hearted and Hopslam got their start as small trial batches that all went on to have their own place in our regular release calendar,” she added.

“It is a unique opportunity to give fans unique insight into where we are headed next and introduce more to the continued experimentation that has always been a part of who we are.”

As part of Bell’s seasonal release calendar in 2018, along with Oberon, Best Brown and Winter White, Larry’s Latest Sour Ale will stand-in for Smitten Golden Rye Ale.

“Smitten isn’t going away forever and may eventually find another home in our release calendar,” Bell said.

Larry’s Latest Sour Ale will be available in all states Bell’s distributes to, but will be limited.

Bell’s announced in late June that Arabicadabra, a brand new coffee milk stout, will start shipping this October in 12 oz. bottles (packaged in 6-packs and kegs). That beer also started as a Larry’s Latest trial batch.

Grimm Brothers to Release Farmer’s Daughter Oktoberfest Lager

Grimm Brothers Farmer's DaughterGrimm Brothers is excited to announce the annual release of Farmer’s Daughter Oktoberfest Lager. Using various European specialty malts we created an elegant, complex, rich, malt-forward beer, slightly hopped for balance and lagered for a clean finish. The nose is full of malty complexity with notes of toasted bread, caramel, brown sugar, and chocolate. The aromatics transition to the taste buds as the same complexity intermingles on the tongue with a light-medium body, creamy mouthfeel, and a crisp, dry finish.

Farmer’s Daughter is a great fall seasonal just in time for Harvest, Loveland Oktoberfest, and all of your fall celebrations. It pairs well with your favorite German cuisine, including sausages and brats. Oktoberfest beers were originally brewed in the spring; cold stored throughout the summer in cellars or caves and served in autumn at traditional German festivals. While we don’t lager The Farmer’s Daughter all summer, we do, however, put a lot of love and care into this traditional Marzen Lager.

Odell Brewing Releases Pear Peach Sour

Odell Brewing Pyrus & PrunusOn July 31st, 2017 Odell Brewing released it’s fourth Cellar Series of 2017, Pyrus & Prunus, a barrel aged Pear Peach Sour.

Pyrus & Prunus is an oak aged sour golden ale brewed with heavy additions of pear and peach puree resulting in a full bodied, pleasantly effervescent, refreshingly tart ale. The two fruits work in harmony, as aromas of peach pie and fresh pear swirl from the glass. The tart complexity of the sour golden marries with ripe fruit flavors that burst forth with every sip.

“Every Coloradoan looks forward to the summer peach harvest,” explains Brent Cordle, Cellar Brewing Manager. “When we did some sensory trials with pear and peach, we saw an opportunity to work with the western slope fruit suppliers to keep things local. The combination of the two fruits work well to balance the lactic sour notes and create a refreshing, unique beer.”

Coming in at 9%, Brazzle will be available in limited quantities as  a single 750ml bottles across Odell’s 15-state distribution footprint.
